Boeing 737 reaches firm concept development stage
Boeing has finished defining in broad terms its newest single-aisle airplane, the 737 MAX, recently completing a major milestone in development known as firm concept. “The program has achieved this development milestone by defining the significant changes needed to deliver the performance we’ve committed to our customers,” said Beverly Wyse, vice president and general manager 737 program.
SilkAir places $4.9 billion aircraft order with Boeing
Boeing and SilkAir have finalised an order for 54 Next-Generation 737s and 737 MAX 8s worth $4.9 billion at list prices. With this agreement, the 737 MAX has accumulated 969 orders to date.
Boeing confirms $3 billion 737 MAX airplane order
Boeing and Aviation Capital Services, a subsidiary of the State Corporation Russian Technologies have today signed a commitment by Rostech to purchase 35 737 MAX airplanes. It is the first commitment for the 737 MAX from Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Boeing predicts $820 billion US aviation market
Boeing forecasts air carriers in North America will take delivery of 7,290 new airplanes over the next 20 years at a market value of $820 billion. Taking retirements of airplanes into account, the North America fleet will grow from 6,650 airplanes today to about 8,830 airplanes by 2031.

Boeing has reported third-quarter net income of $1.0 billion, or $1.35 per share, on continued strong core performance and revenue of $20.0 billion. Increased earnings at Commercial Airplanes and Defence, Space & Security were more than offset by higher pension expense of $194 million.

Boeing has begun building the first 777 at the highest rate ever for a Boeing twin-aisle airplane. The rate of 8.3 airplanes per month is a nearly 20 per cent increase over the previous seven per month rate.
General Electric to buy 100 commercial aircraft from Boeing
Boeing and GE Capital Aviation Services, the commercial aircraft leasing and financing arm of General Electric, have finalised a firm order for 85 737s, which includes 75 737 MAX 8s and ten Next-Generation 737-800s. The order, first announced as a commitment at the Farnborough Airshow in July, allows for up to 15 additional 737-800s.
Boeing predicts large increase in air cargo market despite current uncertainty
Boeing has released new research suggesting the global air cargo market will expand at a 5.2 per cent annual rate over the next 20 years. According to the Boeing World Air Cargo Forecast 2012/2013, growth will be driven by world gross domestic product that will nearly double over the forecast period.
Leasing company Avolon finalises Boeing plane order
Boeing and Avolon, the international airplane leasing company, have finalised a firm order for ten 737 MAX 8s, five 737 MAX 9s and ten Next-Generation 737-800s. The order, first announced as a commitment at the Farnborough Airshow in July, has a current list-price value of $2.4 billion.
Boeing advances in-flight connectivity options for passengers
Boeing continues to advance its suite of connectivity offerings on its family of commercial jetliners. Systems to be installed during production on the 747-8 and 777 by the end of 2013 have the capability to provide in-flight use for cell phones, wi-fi connectivity for passengers, internet access using in-flight entertainment (IFE), and live television broadcasts.

Boeing has offered new projections which suggest that China will need 5,260 new commercial airplanes - valued at $670 billion - over the next 20 years. China is forecast to be the second largest market for new commercial airplanes.
