Dubai Air Show: Boeing takes US$100 billion as 777X launched
Major orders for the next generation Boeing 777X, the 787 Dreamliner and the narrow-bodied 737 have given the American aircraft manufacturer a spectacular start to the 13th Dubai Air Show. Dubai Air Show: Boeing launches 777X program with record orders
Boeing has launched the 777X program at the 2013 Dubai Airshow with a record-breaking number of customer orders and commitments for the newest member of its twin-aisle product family. Agreements for 259 airplanes from four customers across Europe and the Middle East provide a strong foundation to support development and production of the airplane.

Fleet expansion to drive Middle East aviation market
Boeing has forecast airlines in the Middle East will require 2,610 new airplanes over the next 20 years, worth an estimated $550 billion. While one-third of that demand – 900 airplanes – will replace today’s fleets, 66 per cent of the demand is expected to be driven by the rapid fleet expansion in the region.

Boeing continues to improve 737 MAX Performance
The Boeing 737 MAX program continues to make steady development progress since reaching Firm Configuration on the 737 MAX 8 in July. Engineers have completed an assessment of the airplane’s performance confirming an additional one percent fuel-efficiency improvement over the 13 percent already promised to customers.
Aerolineas Argentinas continues fleet modernisation with aircraft deal
Boeing and Aerolineas Argentinas, the flag carrier of Argentina, have completed an agreement for 20 Next-Generation 737-800 airplanes. The agreement, valued at $1.8 billion at list prices, will play a key role in Aerolineas Argentinas’ continued efforts to modernise its fleet and increase passenger satisfaction.
Slowing demand sees Boeing cut 747-8 build program
Boeing has announced it will adjust the production rate for the 747-8 program from 1.75 airplanes to 1.5 airplanes per month through 2015 because of lower market demand for large passenger and freighter airplanes. “This production adjustment better aligns us with near-term demand while stabilising our production flow, and better positions the program to offer the 747-8’s compelling economics and performance when the market recovers,” said Eric Lindblad, vice president and general manager, 747 Program, Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
UTair takes delivery of first Boeing 737-800
Boeing has delivered to UTair, one of Russia’s leading national carriers, its first directly purchased Next-Generation 737-800. The airline currently has 40 Next-Generation 737s on order to be delivered in the next several years.
South African Airways launches biofuel initiative
Boeing and South African Airways have announced they will work together to develop and implement a sustainable aviation biofuel supply chain in southern Africa, a first for the continent. The companies signed a memorandum of understanding for sustainable aviation biofuel supply chain development at the Corporate Council on Africa’s 9th Biennial US-Africa Business, attended by executives from leading United States and African firms and government representatives from several countries.
Etihad to purchase five Boeing 777-200LR from Air India
Etihad Airways has announced its intention to purchase from Air India five Boeing 777-200 LRs, the longest range passenger aircraft in operation to support its accelerated network growth plan. The two carriers signed a letter of intent in Mumbai earlier this week paving the way for the deal.
