Ethiopian Airlines orders 20 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft
Boeing and Ethiopian Airlines have announced an order for 20 737 MAX 8s. The order, previously unidentified on the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website, is worth more than $2.1 billion at list prices and also includes options and purchase rights for a further 15 737 MAX 8s. The order represents the largest single Boeing order by number of airplanes from an African carrier.
Boeing launches 737 MAX 200 with Ryanair
Boeing has launched the newest member of the 737 MAX family with a commitment from Ryanair for 100 airplanes. Europe’s leading low-cost carrier will be the first airline to operate the 737 MAX 200, a variant based on the successful 737 MAX 8 that can accommodate up to 200 seats, increasing revenue potential and providing customers up to 20 per cent better fuel efficiency per seat than today’s most efficient single-aisle airplanes.
Boeing looks to China to drive $870bn Asian aviation market
Boeing, China’s leading provider of passenger airplanes, projects a demand in the country for 6,020 new airplanes over the next 20 years, valued at $870 billion. The company released its annual China Current Market Outlook earlier in Beijing which shows Chinese carriers will take delivery of nearly 45 per cent of the total demand for airplanes in the Asia Pacific region during the forecast period.
BOC Aviation places $8.8bn order with Boeing
Boeing has announced an order by BOC Aviation for 50 737 MAX 8s, 30 Next-Generation 737-800s and two 777-300ERs (Extended Range). The order, valued at $8.8 billion at list prices, is the largest in BOC Aviation’s 20-year history and part of the Singapore-based leasing company’s effort to grow its portfolio of fuel-efficient airplanes.
Boeing rolls out 5000th Next-Generation 737
Boeing rolled out the 5000th Next-Generation 737 this week. The airplane is a Boeing C-40A Clipper, a modified 737-700C, which will serve as a transport aircraft for the US Navy.
Hainan Airlines reaffirms Boeing commitment with new 737 MAX 8 deal
Boeing and Hainan Airlines today announced that the two companies are finalising terms and working toward a purchase agreement for 50 737 MAX 8s, reaffirming the Chinese airline’s preference for an all-Boeing single-aisle fleet. The commitment, valued at more than $5.1 billion at current list prices, will be subject to the approval of the Chinese government and will be posted on Boeing’s Orders & Deliveries website once all contingencies are cleared.
Qatar Airways signs $19bn Boeing 777-9X deal
Boeing and Qatar Airways have finalised an order for 50 777-9Xs, valued at $18.9 billion at current list prices. The 777X order, first announced as a commitment at the 2013 Dubai Airshow, was part of the largest product launch in commercial jetliner history. In addition, the airline announced a commitment for 50 additional 777-9X purchase rights.
Monarch Airlines links with Boeing for fleet modernisation at Farnborough
Boeing and Monarch Airlines today announced that the two companies are finalising terms and working towards a Purchase Agreement for 30 737 MAX 8s, marking the start of a fleet transition for Monarch to Boeing single-aisle airplanes. The order, valued at $3.1 billion at current list prices, will be posted to the Boeing Orders & Deliveries website complete.

Boeing projects a demand for 36,770 new airplanes over the next 20 years, an increase of 4.2 per cent from last year’s forecast. The company released its annual Current Market Outlook today in London, estimating the total value of those new airplanes at $5.2 trillion.

Lufthansa reaches Boeing 747-8 milestone
Lufthansa’s 14th Boeing 747-8 has landed in Frankfurt, becoming the 76th jumbo the airline has received from the American manufacturer since the 1970s and a veritable milestone in aviation history. This aircraft, whose tail number is D-ABYP (‘Yankee Papa’), is the 1,500th jumbo built in the world.
China Eastern Airlines places record Boeing order
China Eastern Airlines has placed an order for 80 new Boeing 737 aircraft.The Shanghai-based carrier, which earlier this year agreed to buy 70 new single-aisle aircraft from Airbus, has now sought to balance out its acquisition strategy by placing an order for 80 B737s. The Boeing deal comprises both the standard model and the new fuel-efficient B737 MAX.
