Air Canada To Receive Eight Boeing 737-8 Aircraft
Air Canada has announced an agreement with BOC Aviation Limited (“BOC Aviation”) for the placement of eight Boeing 737-8 aircraft. “We look forward to these aircraft entering into service next year, upon the completion of some required modifications. These eight, brand-new, fuel- and cost-efficient 737-8s will provide more fleet flexibility and additional capacity while supporting one of our sustainability goals of mitigating emissions,” said Michael Rousseau, President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Canada.
Spirit AeroSystems Announces Acquisition by Boeing in $8.3 Billion Transaction
Spirit AeroSystems today announced it has entered into a definitive merger agreement under which The Boeing Company will acquire Spirit for $37.25 per share in Boeing common stock (subject to the collar described below). At $37.25 per share, this represents an equity value of approximately $4.7 billion and an enterprise value of approximately $8.3 billion including Spirit’s last reported net debt.
Emirates to retrofit an additional 71 A380s and B777s
Emirates has today unveiled that it will be completely refurbishing another 43 A380s and 28 Boeing 777 aircraft, expanding its retrofit programme to 191 aircraft. The original plan called for 120 aircraft - 67 A380s and 53 777s to undergo full refurbishment. The Boeing 777 remains the backbone of the Emirates fleet, and the A380 is the airline’s flagship customer favourite, and the expansion of the refurbishment programme ensures Emirates continues to provide customers with an unparalleled travel experience.

Boeing Statement on 737-9 Inspections
Boeing have issued the following statement: “Safety is our top priority and we deeply regret the impact this event has had on our customers and their passengers. We agree with and fully support the FAA’s decision to require immediate inspections of 737-9 airplanes with the same configuration as the affected airplane. In addition, a Boeing technical team is supporting the NTSB’s investigation into the recent event. We will remain in close contact with our regulator and customers.”
