Austrian Airlines unveils new website
Austrian Airlines has unveiled a new look website with enhanced navigation, design and functionality. The new website enables smartphone users to access a mobile version of the site via apps.
Austrian takes off with second long haul cabin
After completing a successful test flight and gaining official approval from aviation authorities, the second Austrian long-haul aircraft to feature the company’s completely remodelled long-haul cabin, a Boeing 777 bearing the identification code OE-LPA and named Sound of Music has embarked on its maiden flight.
Lucky luggage to Chicago

Passenger numbers up at Austrian Airlines Group
The Austrian Airlines Group increased the number of passengers carried in the entire year 2012 by 1.8 per cent from the prior-year level to a total of 11.5 million passengers. The passenger load factor was up by 3.8 percentage points, rising to 77.5 percent.
Austrian Airlines adds Chicago route
Austrian Airlines is extending its North American product in the 2013 summer schedule. From 17th May, 2013 the carrier will fly five times a week to Chicago using a Boeing 767, featuring new full-flat seats in Business Class, new, modern Economy seats, and a new inflight entertainment system.
Austrian Airlines to upgrade long-haul aircraft interiors
Austrian Airlines has confirmed its entire long-haul fleet will be given new, modern Economy Class seats and an improved in-flight entertainment system. In Business Class the airline will introduce innovative seats which can be transformed into full-flat beds.
Austrian Airlines A320 lands in Vienna
Austrian Airlines is harmonising its medium-haul fleet: Austrian crews and aircraft engineers today brought the first newly-leased Airbus A320, which will strengthen the fleet, from Montpellier in France to Vienna. The aircraft with the registration OE-LBI carries the name “Marchfeld” and is expected to enter into operation on 1st October 2012
Vienna Airport weclomes new terminal
The new Austrian Star Alliance Terminal on Vienna Airport has been opened, welcoming Austrian flight OS 9542, which arrived from Hurghada with 62 passengers on board. The arrivial was accompanied by the launching of flights operated by Austrian Airlines and its Star Alliance partners in the new Austrian Star Alliance Terminal Check-in 3.
Austrian Airlines moves operations to Tyrolean Airways
Austrian Airlines has confirmed it will reorganise its operations to create a “joint and single” set of flight operations with subsidiary Tyrolean Airways. The decision follows a failure to reach agreement with unions over contracts at the carrier, and will see approximately 80 aircraft and 2,000 employees transferred to Tyrolean.
Austrian Airlines: Passenger all-time-record in both March and first Quarter
Austrian Airlines carried 893,600 passengers in March 2012. In spite of the crisis in the Middle East and with two aircraft less in their fleet, Austrian Airlines has had a passenger increase of 12 percent in comparison to March last year. The average passenger load factor, at 73.6 percent, was 3.5 percentage points over the figure for the same month last year. The capacity measured in available seat kilometres (ASK) rose by 9.4 percent. The figure for revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) rose by 14.9 percent.
Austrian Airlines reports loss of minus 59.4 million euros
Austrian Airlines has reported an operating loss of minus 59.4 million euros in the 2011 financial year. This corresponds to an improvement of 8.2 percent compared to 2010, when the loss stood at minus 64.7 million euros. This means Austrian Airlines has not achieved its original target of a positive operating result. The EBITDA worsened by 35.4 percent from plus 170 million euros in 2010 to plus 109.9 million euros in 2011.
Austrian Airlines and Travelport sign full content agreement
Travelport, the business services provider to the global travel industry, has today announced a new, multi-year global content agreement with Austrian Airlines. Through the new agreement, all Galileo and Worldspan travel agency customers worldwide continue to have access to the airline’s full published fares.
