Emirates flying high with title of ‘World’s Best Airline’ from new comprehensive study
Emirates has come out on top as the ‘World’s Best Airline’ amongst 90 global carriers in a recent comprehensive and methodological study by Telegraph Travel. The detailed ranking and ratings were calculated from more than 30 criteria such as punctuality, baggage allowance, route network, quality of home airport, age of fleet, value of rewards programme and tastiness of in-flight meals, while the results were calculated referencing data from more than 18 independent and international awards, readers polls, ratings websites and expert reviews.

SOUTHWEST AIRLINES CELEBRATES 100TH CONCERT IN THE SKY
Southwest Airlines Co. hosted a surprise concert on Flight #1989 from Nashville to Miami with GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter Liz Rose, who was traveling to watch the songs she wrote with Taylor Swift take the stage at the global superstar’s Miami show. This Southwest® flight took place on Oct. 17 and celebrates the 100th concert of the airline’s signature Live at 35® program that started in 2011, which brings live music performances onboard at 35,000 feet.
TAP CUSTOMERS CAN HELP TACKLE POVERTY THROUGH AIR MILE DONATIONS
TAP Air Portugal’s frequent flyers can help build a better world by donating their air miles to three charities that support human rights, education for all children and ending poverty. The option to donate through ‘solidarity travel’ is available to all members of TAP’s Miles&Go programme when flying to any of the airline’s 80+ destinations in the US, South America, Europe and Africa. The charities – APOIAR, Orbis and Sol Sem Fronteiras – will each receive one million airmiles from TAP and a further one million from the airline’s generous customers. Those miles will then be exchanged for flights for organisations to deliver the vital goods and services that the charities need.
ALTITUDE FILM FEST: VOTING ON BOARD TAP’S LONG-HAUL FLIGHTS
TAP Air Portugal announces that the final phase of the Altitude Film Fest, its first on-board film festival, is underway on board the airline’s long-haul flights. Passengers can cast their votes until 31 October 2024. The initiative that celebrates the world of cinema now offers passengers the unique opportunity to take part in choosing the best short films, directly from the aircraft’s entertainment systems. The first edition of the Altitude Film Fest received a total of 355 submissions, including 101 documentaries and 254 fiction films.

SWISS extends pre-select option to Business Class meals on short-haul flights
SWISS Business Class passengers on short-haul flights will also enjoy the option to select from additional main courses before their flight. The new offer is free and includes hot or cold dishes, depending on destination, which will be changed every three months. This option is available on the majority of short and medium-haul flights departing after 10 am

HM Armed Forces Veteran Card to be accepted as form of ID on British Airways flights
British Airways has become the first airline to accept the HM Armed Forces Veteran Card as an acceptable form of photographic identification on domestic flights. The change in policy will mean those who have served in the Armed Forces can use their Veteran Card for travel within the UK. The move is part of the support provided to veterans by the airline, which employs hundreds of ex-Military personnel in a range of roles from flying to engineering.
