Dubai Tourism offers conditional welcome to Airbnb
Dubai Tourism and Airbnb have signed a memorandum of understanding to help promote responsible hosting and help grow and diversify tourism in the emirate. It follows the introduction of enhanced regulations last month that make obtaining a ‘holiday home’ license more streamlined for individual tenants and homeowners who want to rent their homes to guests.
Airbnb joins the United Nations World Tourism Organisation
Airbnb has officially joined the World Tourism Organization as an affiliate member. In doing so, Airbnb joins the most influential community of leaders within the travel and tourism sector, including the UNWTO’s 157 member states and over 480 affiliate members from the private sector, educational institutions, tourism associations and local tourism authorities.

Airbnb has confirmed it will act as the official “alternative accommodation services supplier” for the upcoming 2016 Olympic Games. The games will take place in Rio de Janeiro next summer. It is the first time the company has signed on as an official partner for the Olympics.

Airbnb has appointed James McClure as the new general manager for the UK & Ireland. Previously head of emerging markets for Singapore and south-east Asia at Google, McClure brings ten years of experience in business development to grow and lead the UK market.
