Etihad Airways to welcome ABTA Travel Convention to Abu Dhabi

ABTA – The Travel Association, has revealed that Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, and its national airline Etihad Airways, will host the association’s Travel Convention in 2016. The convention will take place from October 10th-12th, 2016, at the Yas Viceroy Hotel on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi’s hub of leisure, sports and retail activities.

ABTA has appointed Victoria Bacon as Head of Brand and Business Development with effect from 13 April. Following a review of ABTA’s current and future needs, the Head of Brand and Business Development will focus on the development of the ABTA Travel with confidence brand, and on ABTA’s commercial activities as well as directing the communications function.

ABTA, The City of London Police and Get Safe Online have re-joined forces to warn the general public about the dangers posed by holiday booking fraud. Findings from a new report compiled by the City of London Police reveal the scale of reported crime and expose common tactics used by fraudsters who stole an estimated £2.2million from unsuspecting holidaymakers and other travellers in 2014.

The Travel Association, ABTA, has appointed Katrina Cliffe to its Board of Directors. Most recently, Ms. Cliffe was General Manager at American Express Global Business Travel, EMEA, responsible for corporate travel sales across Europe and the Middle East, having previously been General Manager, Global Corporate Payments, UK.
