World Travel Awards today unveiled its European winners, with a number of Russian recipients recognised during a special ceremony at Expo 2020 in Dubai.

The city of St Petersburg lead the celebrations, picking up prizes for Europe’s Leading City Break Destination, Europe’s Leading Heritage Destination and Europe’s Leading Marketing Campaign after a year rebuilding from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Julia Kuzenskaya, deputy chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development of St Petersburg, was on hand to collect the trophies from World Travel Awards founder, Graham Cooke.

Also being honoured was Aeroflot.

The airline took the title of Europe’s Leading Airline Brand, with Aleksandr Lukashin representing the Russian flag-carrier at the event.
