Asia and Pacific returning to full tourism strength
According to UN Tourism’s data, after an initial slow recovery from the impacts of the pandemic, Asia and the Pacific has been rapidly returning to full strength. In 2024. Destinations in the region welcomed 316 million international arrivals between them, equivalent to 87% of pre-pandemic numbers, and up from 66% at the end of 2023. South Asia saw the best results by sub-region, with a 92% recovery, and Maldives posted the highest growth in the region, welcoming 20% more tourists than in 2019, followed by Japan, with 16%, Fiji with 10% and Sri Lanka 7% more compared to 2019. The Commission’s host this year, Indonesia welcomed 13.9 million tourists in 2024, recovering 86% of 2019 levels.

The film showcases the exciting adventures that travellers can enjoy in the city, even during a brief stopover. Written and co-directed by Argentine Armando Bo – who won the 2015 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) – the captivating brand film highlights the diverse and vibrant experiences that Dubai has to offer on a stopover, from its stunning desert landscapes and futuristic architecture, to its world-class shopping and cultural heritage. Turkey's Antalya airport completes expansion
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan inaugurated the newly expanded Antalya airport on Saturday, announcing it can accommodate up to 82 million passengers annually. flydubai and Boeing sign agreement for Space Bins on 737 MAX fleet
At the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX), Dubai-based carrier flydubai and Boeing announced an agreement to retrofit 21 of flydubai’s 737 MAX aircraft with larger Boeing Space Bins. Each Space Bin can accommodate up to six standard-sized bags per bin by turning a bag on its edge, an increase from four bags per bin compared to a standard bin.
