Wyndham signs hotel in Khao Lak and Sanya

Building on its impressive momentum in the Asia Pacific region last year, having opened nearly 100 properties in the region in 2010, Wyndham Hotel Group, part of Wyndham Worldwide Corporation, today announced agreements to open and manage a Wyndham® hotel in Sanya, China, and a new Wyndham hotel in Thailand, to be developed in Khao Lak.

The beachfront Wyndham Khao Lak Resort, owned by South Sea Prakarang Resort Co., Ltd., is now under construction and is scheduled to open by late 2011. The hotel will feature 134 resort rooms and 66 villas, outdoor swimming pool, spa, gym, meeting and banquet space, all-day-dining restaurant, American bistro and beach bar.

The 26-story Wyndham Sanya Resort, to be built by Sanya Hengsen Industrial Investment Co., Ltd., and expected to open in January 2014, will offer access to the beach, shopping and entertainment. Each of the 403 guest rooms will provide scenic views of Sanya Bay. The resort will feature indoor and outdoor swimming pools, gym, meeting and banquet space and Western, Chinese and specialty restaurants.

“The Asia Pacific region continues to be a key area of focus for our company’s development,” said Eric Danziger, Wyndham Hotel Group president and chief executive officer. “We are pleased to work with South Sea Prakarang Resort Co., Ltd., and Sanya Hengsen Industrial Investment Co., Ltd., to introduce Wyndham Hotels and Resorts in Thailand and grow the brand in China, further strengthening our presence in this region.”

The addition of Wyndham Sanya Resort strengthens Wyndham Hotel Group’s position as the largest U.S.-based hotel company in China, where the company franchises 301 hotels representing more than 46,000 rooms under the Wyndham, Ramada®, Howard Johnson®, Days Inn® and Super 8® brands. With this new hotel, there are 14 Wyndham hotels open or under development in China.
