Trou aux Biches Beachcomber to Reopen Following Renovation & Beach Restoration Project
On 15th October this year, Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa is set to reopen following a four-month transformation, unveiling a refreshed look while retaining its iconic character. Marking the resort’s 55th anniversary, the renovation reflects a strong commitment to sustainability and coastal resilience, with the launch of a beach restoration project to reinforce long-term shoreline protection. The hotel will re-emerge with the same timeless elegance, offering an exceptional setting for unforgettable experiences.
Resort Renovation
As the sunny season returns in October, Trou aux Biches will unveil a refreshed identity following an extensive renovation led by JFA Architects. Their refined design vision and sensitivity to interior aesthetics have been thoughtfully woven into every aspect of the guest experience, creating a harmonious blend of elegance, comfort and authentic Mauritian charm.
At the heart of the transformation is L’Oasis restaurant, the centerpiece of the renovation concept. Overlooking the lagoon and accommodating up to 450 guests, the space has been designed to embrace natural light from sunrise to sunset. Organic materials such as rope and rattan, complemented by vibrant ceramic tiles, create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The cold buffet pays homage to the charm of a traditional Mauritian home, while the warm buffet evokes the comforting feeling of being welcomed into a family residence. The resort also introduced a brand-new Corner Café, for the crêpe and coffee lovers, available throughout the day.
The renovation includes beautifully reimagined boutique suites, where sophistication and distinctive character are seamlessly integrated throughout the property. The Beachfront Junior Suites, Senior Suites and Garden Suites have all been redesigned to enhance comfort while preserving their iconic character and vintage-inspired décor. These elegant sanctuaries offer guests to a true home-away-from-home experience, enriched by the authentic spirit and warmth of Mauritius.

Guests are also welcome to the newly refreshed Beachcomber Boutique, a vibrant and contemporary space showcasing locally crafted creations, stylish resort wear, and handcrafted baskets. Reflecting the hotel’s renewed aesthetic, the boutique celebrates both local talent and the island’s unique sense of style. Adjacent to the boutique, guests can discover specialty imported coffees and gourmet products from renowned brands which are available for both tasting and purchasing.
Beach Restoration
One of the island’s most iconic beaches, Trou aux Biches has seen a shoreline retreat estimated at around 40 metres between 1967 and 2012, with erosion now reaching up to 1-2 metres per year in certain areas. The resort’s beachfront has significantly narrowed, hindering its natural function as a wave buffer and increasing the exposure of infrastructure.
In response to the challenges of beach erosion, Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels is undertaking a major beach restoration project at Trou aux BIches from mid-May to September 2026. Designed to address the severe coastal erosion that has significantly reduced the beach over recent decades, the initiative will use the innovative STABIPLAGE® nature-based solution, including six submerged geotextile structures and 13,500 m³ of sand replenishment, to restore beach width, stabilise the shoreline and protect local ecosystems and infrastructure. Developed with international engineering and environmental experts, the project reflects Beachcomber’s commitment to sustainable coastal management and climate adaptation, while ensuring the beach remains accessible to the public throughout the works.
