Travel Promoters Appointed UK & Europe Representatives for Mhondoro Safari Lodge & Villa

Travel Promoters has announced its appointment as Sales & Marketing representatives for Mhondoro Safari Lodge & Villa, located within South Africa’s Welgevonden Game Reserve in Limpopo Province.

Set within a 35,000-hectare “Big 5” private reserve in the Waterberg District, Welgevonden is renowned for its rich biodiversity and conservation leadership. The reserve is home to the world’s largest concentration of endangered white rhino living on private land, protected by a highly skilled, world-class anti-poaching unit.

Travel Promoters Founder, Ailsa Tavares, commented: “We are very proud to be welcoming Mhondoro into our portfolio, especially as we approach the busy trade show season, and look forward to sharing updates on this special property with our tour operator partners.”

Widely regarded as a benchmark for luxury safaris in the region, Mhondoro accommodates up to 24 guests across a collection of suites and a private villa. Accommodation includes a Honeymoon Suite, two Luxury Pool Suites, an Executive Suite, two Family Suites, and the exclusive-use Mhondoro Villa, which sleeps six guests.

The lodge enjoys panoramic views over a frequently visited watering hole and offers a distinctive safari experience via a 65-metre tunnel leading to an underground hide positioned close to the water’s edge. Guests can enjoy guided open-air game drives, rhino tracking, bush walks with experienced rangers, stargazing experiences and excursions to nearby rock art sites. Wellness is also a key focus, with spa treatments available in a dedicated Spa Suite overlooking the waterhole, alongside curated retreats and gourmet dining complemented by an extensive wine selection.

Welgevonden’s malaria-free status and accessibility—less than a three-hour drive or one-hour flight from Johannesburg—make it particularly appealing for multigenerational travel. The lodge offers child-friendly “Bumble” game drives, a full children’s programme and child-minding services. Families staying in the exclusive-use Mhondoro Villa benefit from a private vehicle and guide, with no age restrictions on game drives.

Owners Frank and Myriam Vogel added: “We are delighted to be partnering with Travel Promoters to strengthen and grow our market share in the UK and Europe, and we look forward to engaging with the trade to share our unique offering. We are also proud to announce the acquisition of Izingwe Lodge in the south of Welgevonden Game Reserve. Following refurbishment, the property will be relaunched as Mhondoro Southern Residence, accommodating up to eight guests on an exclusive-use basis.”

The Travel Promoters team will visit the property ahead of Africa’s Travel Indaba to experience the lodge first-hand and support ongoing trade engagement. The team will also be attending ITB Berlin and the Celebrate Africa Workshops in Cirencester and London in March, as well as participating in the OurAfrica.Travel digital trade show.
