The Landmark London Hotel to host opera event

Following the success of last year’s Opera Gala Dinner, elegant five-star hotel The Landmark London is to stage another operatic event, this time in partnership with charitable organisation Streetwise Opera - which aims to provide homeless people with a voice - on Friday 5th October 2012.

A ticketed event, the opera dinner will take place in the surrounds of the hotel’s Winter Garden restaurant underneath the eight-storey glass-roofed atrium – providing a stunning backdrop to the evening’s entertainment and fantastic acoustics for the performance.

Streetwise is a charitable organisation that works in 11 homeless centres around the country with their workshop programmes; their mission is to provide homeless and formerly homeless people with the opportunity to participate in music making of the highest professional quality, to foster their natural talents, and to promote more positive attitudes towards homeless people.

With each ticket sale providing a donation of 50% towards the charity, the evening will comprise a sumptuous five-course dinner interspersed with three musical interludes of 20 minutes each, featuring three exceptional performers from Streetwise Opera. Three professional singers – who are often workshop leaders for Streetwise – will sing a selection of duets and trios from well-known operas in two of the sets, while a group of the charity’s homeless and formerly-homeless performers will present popular arias such as ‘Toreador’ from Carmen and ‘O Sole Mio’ in the third set.
