The Landmark London Hotel invests in new technology from Agilysys

Agilysys (Europe) Limited, part of Agilysys, Inc, a leading provider of innovative information technology and hospitality software solutions, has won the contract to provide technology to one of London’s most distinctive and best-loved hotels, 5-star The Landmark London on Marylebone Road.

Explains the hotel’s financial controller, Louise Uys: “We became aware that EPoS technology had moved on and we felt it was time to invest in a new solution.” A full market evaluation took place, with a shortlist of four suppliers being put through their paces. Agilysys eventually secured the contract in competitive tender in the late spring.

The Landmark London’s new technology investment comprises InfoGenesis™ POS by Agilysys, a touch screen point-of-sale solution for restaurants and bars hotel-wide, ResPAK dining reservation & restaurant management software for the Winter Garden and the twotwentytwo Restaurant & Bar, handheld POS devices and software for twotwentytwo and for room service, and wireless Verifone Chip & PIN units. Agilysys will train hotel staff and project-manage the installation and set-up of the new technology in August/September.

Observes Louise Uys: “InfoGenesis’ capabilities are clearly superior to those of its competitors. The management information that the system can supply is exceptional, and InfoGenesis will help our managers to ‘own’ each outlet as if they were running a stand-alone business.”

The ResPAK solution also impressed the team. “To be competitive with outside restaurants, we need to have a better handle on who is coming through the door. ResPAK will enable us to build a database, recording who’s dining with us, when, and what they enjoy. We’ll then be able to market to them and build their loyalty through a uniquely customised experience. Not only will we be able to track our restaurant guests as well as we do our hotel guests, but we’re also confident we can increase table utilisation and tailor our menus more, using ResPAK statistics.”

The Landmark London will be equipping its staff with handheld point-of-service devices, which is quite a departure for a 5-star hotel. Hotel management believes this will give a competitive edge, helping to speed up service and enable staff to spend more quality time interacting with guests.

Continues Uys: “This investment was a major decision for us, and not one taken lightly, but from the start we found Agilysys very accommodating and conscientious. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they worked with us over many months to answer our queries and demonstrate that they had the solution that The Landmark London needed.”

Other 5-star deluxe London hotels using Agilysys technology include The Dorchester, The Savoy, The Lanesborough, Red Carnation Hotels, The Berkeley and The Connaught.
