Taste of London returns to tantalise taste buds
Taste of London, the world’s greatest restaurant festival, returns with a Michelin starred line-up of chefs, restaurants and brand new features guaranteed to impress London’s foodie elite.
The alfresco feast held in Regent’s Park from June 20th-23rd has gone from strength to strength and this year marks its 10th anniversary.
To celebrate, Taste has added even more culinary greats to an already stellar line-up.
The finest chefs from across the globe will join forces at the Electrolux Taste Theatre with exclusive demonstrations giving the public a glimpse into the minds of these culinary masters.
This year’s theme is collaboration and reunion; celebrating established and new talents, and international chef pairings.
One of the most anticipated collaborations of the event will undoubtedly be ‘In the Kitchen with Three Generations of the Roux Family’ – Albert, Michel (Jr) and his daughter Emily – cooking together on stage for the first time.
They will share their combined expertise, knowledge and passion that is sure to become one of the highlights of the festival.
This year will see a series of world class and rare demonstrations entitled ‘In the Kitchen with…’ which will feature celebrated Nordic chef Magnus Nilsson from Faviken in Northern Sweden who will deliver a taste of the extraordinary cuisine he offers at his world renowned restaurant.
‘In the Kitchen with…’ will also welcome brothers, Chris and Jeff Galvin who will be showcasing their French flair, ZUMA founder Rainer Becker and two Michelin starred chef Phil Howard.
To mark the tenth year anniversary, Taste of London will also welcome back all three of the ‘Founding Fathers’ of the festival - Gary Rhodes, Michel Roux Jr and Alfred Prasad.
The three Michelin star chefs helped launch the very first Taste of London festival back in 2004 and will now help celebrate the 10th anniversary with a special group demonstration like no other.
As if that wasn’t enough, for one day only, the ever animated Gennaro Contaldo and Antonio Carluccio will join forces for ‘In the Kitchen with…Two Greedy Italians’ - combining their Italian roots and passion for food, the duo will whip up an Italian feast that will keep foodie fans thoroughly entertained.
Other exciting collaborations during the event will include chef legend Pierre Koffmann along with his famous protégé Tom Kitchin, the indomitable duo of Francesco Mazzei and Alfred Prasad, and French and Indian cuisine will collide with delicious results when Vivek Singh and Eric Chavot take to the stage together.
If this wasn’t enough to whet your appetite, the main stage will also be home to Ashley Palmer-Watts from Dinner by Heston Blumenthal (who recently rose to #7 in the World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards), French superstar Raymond Blanc, along with baking gurus Eric Lanlard and the Baker Brothers, and many more.
A selection of the capital’s hottest restaurants will also guarantee a first-class eating experience.
Visitors can look forward to elegant Italian cuisine from Babbo, European fare from Gordon Ramsey’s Maze, oriental fusion delights from Spice Market, while The Cinnamon Club will add some spice with its modern Indian inspired dishes.
The award winning Roka will also be returning to showcase a selection of its finest contemporary Japanese cuisine.
For the first time in its ten years, Taste of London 2013 will also feature a bandstand with musical entertainment - the perfect accompaniment to the Chef line-up.
Providing the musical backdrop will be Sadie and the Hotheads which will feature lead vocals from Downtown Abbey’s Elizabeth McGovern, and the hotly tipped Josh Osho, with more acts to be announced!
