Stewart takes seat on BAR UK leadership board

Colin Stewart, the UK general manager of Air Europa, has been appointed to the role of director with the Board of Airline Representatives UK (BAR UK).

BAR UK has 12 Directors, elected by its more than 70 members, and is the industry association representing the majority of airlines operating to the UK.

Colin brings over 14 years of aviation experience to the role, and has worked at Air Europa since 2009, where he oversaw the airline’s launch in the UK market.

He is also chairman of the Foreign Airlines Association and sits on the UK SkyTeam Global Alliance Committee.

This decision is further recognition of Air Europa’s strong growth over recent years, and of its consolidation of its position as the Latin American specialist airline.

Under Stewart’s leadership, Air Europa has enjoyed uninterrupted year-on-year double digit growth in the UK market since 2009, and has firmly established itself as the airline of choice for UK passengers to Latin America.

The airline now operates twice daily flights from London Gatwick to Madrid Barajas, which serves as its long-haul hub for leading destinations across Latin America, the Spanish Caribbean, and further afield.

In response to the announcement, Stewart said: “It is an honour to be appointed as a Director of BAR UK, and I am delighted to have the opportunity to use my experience to serve this great organisation and its members.”
