St Regis Mauritius to open Spring 2011

The St Regis Mauritius looks set to become one of the best addresses in the Indian Ocean when it opens in Spring 2011. Currently under construction on the southern tip of the island, the Resort is located on one of the finest beaches on Mauritius in the stunning UNESCO World Heritage site of Le Morne.

174 luxuriously appointed guest rooms with spacious terraces will range from deluxe and superior deluxe accommodation to junior, deluxe and spa suites as well as three individual villas, each nestled within peaceful tropical gardens overlooking the turquoise lagoon. Traditional colonial style will be complemented by indigenous and contemporary touches, incorporating the latest high-tech amenities with handcrafted furniture and décor.

A dedication to providing unique dining experiences has influenced the planning of the resort’s five restaurants which will be overseen by an acclaimed Executive Chef. Each will offer its own definitive style, from a French influenced Creole restaurant to a bespoke Chef’s Table, with an extensive Wine Cellar complementing the international gourmet cuisine.

A wealth of leisure facilities will include multiple swimming pools; tennis courts; Dive centre; exclusive water-sports; a cinema and boutiques, as well as dedicated children’s and teens’ facilities. Spa aficionados will enjoy a world-class Remède Spa providing customised treatments and a haven of calm and tranquility.

Weddings and high-end business functions will also be catered for with an elegant 244sqm ballroom and function room amongst the facilities. Incentive groups and individual guests will have access to a dedicated concierge service providing access to the world-class facilities of Mauritius – from international standard golf courses to thrilling rides on-board the St Regis offshore speedboat. The location of the St. Regis Mauritius is also one of the three top kite-surfing destinations of the world, and with the assistance of Club Mistral the resort will provide the opportunity to beginners and professionals alike to enjoy this spectacular sport.

The legacy of the St Regis brand, first established with the opening of The St Regis New York over one hundred years ago, will shape every aspect of the resort experience; from the signature Bloody Mary and iconic Butler service to the tradition of Afternoon Tea, all interpreted with a distinctly Mauritian touch.

The St Regis Mauritius will form part of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts Inc portfolio following the signing of a long term management agreement with ABKID Mauritius Limited. The resort will be overseen by newly appointed General Manager Bernard de Villèle.
