Royal Jordanian chief steps down
Royal Jordanian (RJ) CEO Hussein Dabbas has announced his resignation which will go into effect on June 1st.
Dabbas, who was appointed as CEO of Royal Jet in 2009, believed it was time for a change in the company and time for new ideas to develop.
The troubled carrier cancelled more than 1,000 flights in 2011 due to the impact of the Arab Spring – which contributed to it incurring JD58 million in losses in 2011, according to reports.
The carrier was also adversely affected by the steady rise in fuel prices.
There have been some reports suggesting a merger with a larger carrier could be on the cards for Royal Jordanian.
