HE Sheikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Managing Director and Chairman of Qetaifan Projects Receiving the GWR Certificate

Qetaifan Projects, a subsidiary of Katara Hospitality, proudly announced that “The RIG 1938” has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records™ for two records, the first being the tallest water slide, rising to 76.309 meters, and the second Title being the first of its kind to feature 12 water slides in a single tower. The announcement was made by HE Sheikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani , Managing Director and Chairman of Qetaifan Projects, at a press conference held on the shores of Meryal Waterpark, Qetaifan North Island. The event was attended by the Qetaifan Projects team, representatives from Rixos Hotel, dignitaries, investors and media professionals.

Commenting on the achievement, HE Sheikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani expressed his pride, saying: “This   remarkable achievement   embodies Qetaifan Projects’ vision of creating a global tourism destination that seamlessly blends authenticity and innovative entertainment. Designed as a tribute to Qatar ’s oil and gas discovery history , The RIG 1938 is an architectural marvel and the pinnacle of entertainment innovation. Standing 85 metres tall, it features 12 water slides tailor-made for thrill-seekers of all ages, ensuring an exhilarating and inclusive experience. The tower offers panoramic views of Qetaifan North Island and Lusail City. Connected to Meryal Waterpark by a heritage train, it amplifies visitors’ sense of adventure.

The Meryal Water Park, which covers 281,000 square meters, is one of the largest water parks in the region. It features 36 state-of-the-art water attractions, designed to provide unparalleled entertainment for the whole family.
