Radisson Blu will redesign a hotel room based on winning Mood Board

Radisson Blu, Rezidor’s upper upscale core brand, will redesign a hotel room based on the winning Mood Board from the brand’s recent summer contest: Participants were invited to design a hotel room that matches their unique style and personality. The jury awarded a Mood Board from Wim Alenus (Belgium) – his design will serve as inspiration for a newly done room at the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Brussels; and Wim will enjoy 30 free nights in “his” room over the period of one year. The designers of the top 10 Mood Boards have also won a weekend stay in the redesigned room.

“Eclectic, home sweet home, elegant, relaxing, real – these are some of the words the members of the jury used to describe the winning Mood Board”, said John Kennedy, Vice President Marketing and Customer Relationship at the Rezidor Hotel Group. “We loved this Mood Board because of its “feel at home” style and the Mood Board showed us the color scheme and the style of furniture Wim wanted in the room as well as the ambience”, added Eugene Staal, Rezidor’s Senior Vice President Technical Development.

Wim Alenus himself described his Mood Board as: Relax like a Sunday morning at home. Get rid of the sophisticated and overdone fake. Make hotel rooms real again!

To win, participants of Radisson Blu’s summer contest gave their Mood Board a name, added a short description and submitted it. Participants then collected votes for their Mood Boards to become one of five most voted Mood Boards. An additional six nominees were selected by an independent jury – and the winner was chosen from these 10 nominees.

With 12,345 Mood Boards in total to look at, the jury had a tough time selecting the winner. The jury consisted of Bart Canini, head of Creneau International, a global agency for design concepts; the famed Swedish designer Christian Lundwall; and Eugene Staal, Senior Vice President of Technical Development at Rezidor.
