Qatar Airways links up with Kenya Tourism

Qatar Airways has linked up with the Kenya Tourist Board in a deal designed to boost the number of Chinese visitors to the destination.

The move will be centred on a digital campaign where visitors can send Kenya themed e-postcards to their friends and relatives.

A joint website will also be launched to help Chinese travellers find a warm weather vacation to Kenya.

“We are very pleased to launch this promotional website with our esteemed partner Kenya Tourist Board to advocate the ‘cradle of humanity’, Kenya, in China market,” said Woo Yew Seong, Qatar Airways country manager Greater China.

“With the global economy on the mend, Chinese travellers are packing their bags again for travel.”

The promotional website is designed to introduce high quality Kenya travel to China mainland and Hong Kong market.

Qatar Airways operates a total of 14 flights a week to Nairobi, capital city of Kenya, with varying connection times via Doha.

In China, the airline serves Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Customers can book flights to Kenya from any one of four network points across Greater China.

“Kenya is an ideal destination for adventurous travel,” added Mr Seong.

“Official data shows Kenya’s tourist arrivals rose to 483,000 in the first half of 2010, putting east Africa’s largest economy on track to beat record foreign visitor numbers set in 2007.

“We anticipate our efforts will boost Kenya’s tourism in the upcoming New Year holiday,” he explained.
