On the Go launches three new Kashmir tours for 2013

On the Go launches a brand new India 12-day tour for 2013 that visits the Golden Triangle and Kashmir in the wake of the UK lifting its two-decade old advisory for its nationals against travel to this area.

This exciting 12-day tour includes the popular Golden Triangle route offering the chance to experience the richness of Indian culture taking in Delhi, both old and new, the famous Taj Mahal in Agra and the stunning Pink City of Jaipur. This tour then continues from Delhi to Srinagar where the first three nights are spent onboard a traditional houseboat on Nageen Lake, part of Dal Lake. Dal Lake covers an area of 18 square kilometers and is lined with stunning Mughal Gardens, resorts, houseboats and colourful shikaras - the small wooden vessels used to transport almost everything around the lake from goods to people.

Over the next three days highlights include a ride in a shikara to witness the sunset, a visit some of the stunning Mughal Gardens that Srinagar is famous for, time to explore the terraced Nishat Bagh or Nishat Garden on the eastern side of the lake and the colourful and fascinating floating vegetable markets that protrude from the water topped with all sorts of growing local produce.

Also a must-see is the Old City of Srinigar with its winding streets and alleys lined with shops selling and making the finest Kashmari goods. Included also is a visit to picturesque Gulmarga, situated just a short drive from Srinagar in the luscious surrounding of the Indian Himalayas. During winter this area is a popular skiing resort with hiking and horse riding offered as a summer option during free time.
