Oman set for $2.6 bn tourism project

Plans for the development of a major Integrated Tourism Complex (ITC) in Oman, dubbed the Omagine Project, have made further headway following the recent signing of a key Shareholder Agreement by its promoters, according to reports.

The $2.6bn mixed use tourism, cultural and residential development will include a theme park featuring seven pearl-shaped buildings and an open air amphitheatre and stage.

This will be developed along the beachfront stretch near to Muscat International Airport.

The Omagine project is the latest in a series of Integrated Tourism Complexes (ITCs) that aim to drive growth in the Sultanate’s tourism sector.
