New £250,000 ticket office for Lincoln passengers

Passengers using Lincoln station will now be welcomed to a completely refurbished ticket office as a £250,000 scheme to improve passenger facilities at the station is completed.

Karl McCartney, MP for Lincoln, officially opened the new ticket hall today along with Andy Moore, Head of Stations for East Midlands Trains. The scheme, delivered through a successful partnership between East Midlands Trains and Network Rail, has delivered a significantly improved ticket office for Lincoln passengers.

Delivered by Bowmer & Kirkland, the project provides a much improved station environment, featuring a new, brighter and enlarged booking hall, new bicycle facilities and free WiFi for all passengers. The new look booking hall will also ease the flow of passengers and improve the overall experience.

Andy Moore, Head of Stations for East Midlands Trains, said: “Good rail links are vital for connecting people and businesses. With 1.6 million journeys made through Lincoln station each year, these improvements to the ticket hall will help us to make a big difference to the overall travelling experience for our passengers using Lincoln station. We have also installed WiFi at the station which is available to all passengers free of charge.”

It is of the utmost importance that we do all we can to improve rail links to and from Lincoln, which is a vital hub for serving our passengers in Lincolnshire. This major station improvement project at Lincoln will make a big difference to the overall travelling experience for the passengers who arrive and depart at, and from, our beautiful City, and use it for over 1.6 million journeys every year.

“This development is, of course, in addition to the agreement I have already helped to secure for footbridges over the central two of our City’s level crossings, and I look forward to continuing my Campaign for improved transport infrastructure and services across my constituency of Lincoln.”

WiFi technology has now been installed at Lincoln station as part of a programme to install Wifi at 29 East Midlands Trains stations. The free service is now available throughout the concourses, platforms and other public areas within the station.
