Monarch Airlines helps Just-a-Drop help Haiti

Monarch Airlines has become the latest travel and tourism industry partner to support clean water charity Just a Drop’s JUST HELP HAITI appeal.

The British carrier launched an appeal on Good Friday (2 April) – one of the busiest flying days of the year - on board all aircraft and through its customer newsletter to raise funds that will help Just a Drop to create sustainable water and sanitation solutions for communities in devastated Haiti encouraging them to return to their homes, villages and schools and thereby being able to move out of temporary refugee camps.

Just a Drop aim to raise £1 million for the people of Haiti, the amount required to ensure urgent water and sanitation needs and implement a long term water supply solution.

Commenting on Monarch’s fundraising efforts, Sales Director of Monarch Airlines, Alan Murray said, “Monarch is delighted to be supporting Just a Drop’s Just Help Haiti appeal and to be raising money for such a worthwhile cause.  Monarch staff and customers fully engaged with our fundraising efforts and are really pleased to have raised such a considerable amount through onboard collections and online donations.”

Fiona Jeffery, founder and chairman of Just a Drop, said: “We are extremely grateful for this generous donation from Monarch. The news reports on Haiti have tailed off but the situation is still critical for the people living there. Where Just a Drop makes a real difference is in the work post the emergency relief effort as we are sending in our team of experts to secure the ongoing supply of clean safe water and help displaced communities move back to their homes.”
