Miura Hotel opens in Czech Republic

Miura Hotel opens in Czech Republic

It is situated in the heart of the picturesque Beskydy Mountains in Čeladná, in the Moravian-Silesian Region in the Czech Republic, on the site of a 36-hole Golf Course, which hosts the tournament of the European PGA Tour – Czech Open 2011. The hotel features 39 Deluxe Rooms, 4 Junior Suites and the Miura Suite, with all rooms offering a picturesque view over the Golf Course and the beautiful unspoilt landscape. The unique and timeless architecture is the work of Prague studio LABOR13, and features materials such as concrete, sheet metal, glass and stone. The architects designed the building to resemble a spaceship that is home to a family of “Cubeman” by artist David Černý. In the hotel you can find masterpieces by Czech and International artists such as Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, Henry Moore, Tony Cragg and Petr Pastrňák.

The hotel boasts a Spa designed by KLAFS, which is unique in Central Europe. Guests can make use of a whirlpool with a dreamlike view of the hills, or use the steam baths, a sauna, Sanotherm levitation bath and the “Snow Paradise”. They can also enjoy the privilege to have total privacy in the Private Spa with whirlpool, sauna and minibar. The team behind the whole concept is the LABOR13 architectural studio in Prague, led by Albert Pražák, Martin Vomastek and Jiří Bardoděj. Other leading figures from the world of design, such as Lucie Koldová, Vladimír Ambroz, Jerry Koza have also contributed to the project, as well as companies such as 3DH Interier, AMOSDESIGN, Konsepti, Bang & Olufsen and Artemide. The architecture of the whole building is as rugged as the surrounding mountains but also cozy where it’s supposed to be. The main material used is concrete, on the outside combined with rusting Corten steel sheets and purple glass. The shell of the building consists of cembonit cladding. Inside the concrete alternates with wood, stainless steel sheets and Corian.

The whole building is divided into 3 parts, one of which freely levitates above the ground. The hotel rooms are located in the side buildings of the hotel and all of them face towards the south and the golf course. The apartments even have glass walls with views of Lysá hora and Ondřejník. The reception area is in the central part of the building along with the lobby bar and south terrace, the night bar and restaurant with its south balcony. Below ground there are two conference rooms and the hotel’s pride and joy - the Miura spa. Lighting for the whole hotel was provided by the Italian manufacturer of design lighting, Artemide. The furniture is, amongst others, by design manufacturers Moroso, Kartell, Alias, Pedralli, Poliform, Paola Lenti, Magis, KFF and Vondom. There is also furniture in the hotel that was designed especially for this project, for example the levitation beds in the private spa by Lucie Koldová, the carbon table in the Boardroom by Jerry Koza and the chest of drawers which you will find in various colours throughout the hotel are from Vladimír Ambroz.

In the surrounding beautiful countryside you will find the Čeladenka river valley, streams of clear water, virgin forests of the Slovak border area, where you might come across a lynx, a wolf or a bear. The unique concept of this artful hotel amidst breathtaking countryside makes it a haven of another kind.
