Meliá Hotels outlines two properties in Zhengzhou, China

Meliá Hotels International has announced the signing of two new hotels in growing political and business hub of Zhengzhou, China.

INNSIDE by Meliá will open in June 2015, and Meliá Zhengzhou in January 2016.

The hotels sit in a complex of three buildings, one for the INNSIDE property and the other two devoted to the Meliá hotel, split into areas for regular and longer term stays.

Together, they will bring 933 rooms and MICE facilities including a grand ballroom for over 900 people and other multi-functional meeting rooms, ideal for big wedding ceremonies and for business meetings.

These two brands in Zhengzhou fit the needs of a city which experienced a 12 per cent GDP growth in 2012 and whose airport received over ten million visitors.

These announcements reflect the company’s expansion focus in China, where there are strong strategic agreements in place with leading groups, such as Greenland.

There are a number of other properties soon to open in China, including Gran Meliá Xian and Meliá Jinan in 2014, and the Meliá Tian Jin and Meliá Chongqin in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

The group has more than doubled its portfolio in the Asia region over the last two years and foresees additional announcements in the country, expanding into main cities and the burgeoning resort destinations, a segment in which Meliá expects to bring its experience as an international leader.

Bernardo Cabot, vice present, Meliá Hotels International, Asia Pacific, said: “The addition of these two brands brings a range of facilities and service cultures unparalleled in Zhengzhou.

“We are proud and excited to bring our brands to this quickly developing city, as a part of our expansion strategy in the main Chinese destinations.”

INNSIDE by Meliá brand is a modern urban lifestyle brand that focuses on atmosphere and service, borne out of Germany.

Meanwhile, Meliá Hotels & Resorts is the group’s city and resort brand, focusing on delivering traditional Spanish service and combining design with functionality.
