MANDARIN ORIENTAL OTTOLENGHI AMSTERDAM OPENS 19 MARCH

Ottolenghi Amsterdam will officially welcome its first guests on 19 March, 2026 with online reservations open now.
Chef, restaurateur and author, Yotam Ottolenghi is returning to Amsterdam, 30 years after calling the city home, to open his first restaurant in the Netherlands, and second in mainland Europe.
The restaurant is located at Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium, Amsterdam and the vegetable-forward menu will centre around the grill and fermentation, celebrating local Dutch produce with an Ottolenghi twist.

The vibrant all-day menu pairs much-loved Ottolenghi dishes, such as celeriac shawarma with pita, bkeila and fermented tomato, with new creations developed for the Amsterdam launch. Among them: White and green asparagus with pickled chilli, anchovy and seed dukkah, and a Hong Kong-style French toast with tahini and sweet hawaij, created to mark the partnership between Ottolenghi and Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium.

The restaurant will be staffed by a local team trained in the Ottolenghi way by Executive Chef, Neil Campbell and General Manager, Marisha Wilson, who have a combined 18 years’ experience at the helm of Ottolenghi’s London restaurants, ROVI and NOPI. Marisha will also take up the position of General Manager at Ottolenghi Amsterdam, relocating from London.

Ottolenghi Amsterdam at Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium is located in the city’s Museum District, within close proximity to cultural landmarks such as Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, Van Gogh Museum and The Concertgebouw.

Ottolenghi, globally renowned for cookbooks such as Plenty (2010), Simple (2018), and Comfort (2024), is making a return to Amsterdam after 30 years, having lived and studied there in 1995 before moving to London.

In 2002 Ottolenghi opened his first deli in Notting Hill in London and today Ottolenghi operates 10 establishments in the UK and another, the most recent addition, in Geneva, Switzerland, which opened in early 2025 at Mandarin Oriental, Geneva. This partnership now continues with the opening of his twelfth venue at Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium, Amsterdam.

Yotam Ottolenghi commented: “We’re finally ready! Our team has poured enormous care into creating a menu rooted in the brilliant Dutch produce available in and around Amsterdam, while staying true to the vibrant, generous flavours that define Ottolenghi. There’s something very special about bringing those two worlds together and I can’t wait to open the doors and welcome our first guests.”

Susanne Hatje, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium, Amsterdam, added: “With the opening of Ottolenghi Amsterdam just around the corner, we are proud to bring this vibrant culinary concept to life in the heart of the city. From the bold, seasonal dishes to the warm and welcoming atmosphere, Ottolenghi Amsterdam will be a place where hotel guests and locals come together to share memorable moments around the table. It marks not only an exciting milestone for the hotel, but a meaningful addition to Amsterdam’s dynamic dining scene.”

Menu

Ottolenghi restaurants are known for their emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients and bold flavours. The new Amsterdam kitchen follows this theme and is inspired by Ottolenghi’s ROVI restaurant in London, which champions a vegetable-centric menu featuring vibrant sharing plates made with locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Keeping with the Ottolenghi ethos of local sourcing, ingredients and produce featuring on the menu will include dairy and cheeses from Over Amstel Boerderij, salads grown by TopKrop Farm in Molenlaan and aubergines farmed by fifth generation family produce growers, Zwinkels, located just an hour outside Amsterdam.

Menu highlights will include:

Design

Ottolenghi Amsterdam will bring the unique Ottolenghi culinary style to the Netherlands for the first time, served in Mandarin Oriental Conservatorium’s iconic glass atrium. The atrium sits within a landmark building originally designed in the late 19th century as the Rijkspostspaarbank. It later became the Sweelinck Conservatorium and today stands as one of Amsterdam’s leading luxury hotels.

The space has been designed by Ottolenghi’s long-time collaborator, Alex Meitlis, who has designed every Ottolenghi site across London for over 25 years, as well as Geneva.

“The starting point is always the same - how do we make coming together around food feel like a true occasion?” explained Meitlis. “With Amsterdam, we wanted to create a love letter to the city, so we brought the outside in, planting these magnificent trees within the space, so that every meal feels like dining in an enchanted, living forest.”

The space also features artwork by Gilles & Cecilie Studio, who designed recent statement pieces for ROVI, Ottolenghi Richmond and Ottolenghi Notting Hill in London as well as Ottolenghi Geneva.

Rooted in nature and inspired by the landscapes of the Netherlands and the figurative traditions of Delft ceramics, reimagined through an Ottolenghi-inspired lens, the painting explores landscape at close range, shifting between a light-filled meadow and a more abstract, reflective space. Layered colour and expressive brushwork bring movement and depth, holding brightness and stillness in balance

Ottolenghi Amsterdam can serve 85 covers per sitting in the restaurant and a further 30 on the terrace. The restaurant will be open for breakfast until 11am and then all-day dining will be served from midday until 10pm.
