Kudat Riviera opens in November

Opening in November 2009, The Kudat Riviera will have its own full service PADI dive centre offering a comprehensive range of dive courses from beginner to instructor level, as well as dedicated guided trips to the many renowned dive hotspots along the Kudat coastline and within the protected Maliangin Sanctuary, an area of unique ecological importance in the heart of the Coral Triangle that is currently in the process of being designated a National Marine Park, as part of the Sulu Sulawesi Marine Ecoregion Conservation Plan. Guests may encounter rare and unusual species including jaw fish, bat fish and unicorn fish; endangered green and loggerhead turtles; critically endangered hawksbill turtles; dolphins; dugongs; and at least four species of shark. Other Coral Triangle highlights easily accessible from The Kudat Riviera include the world-famous Sipadan island, voted one of the best dive sites in the world.

The Kudat Riviera’s management and operating company Exquisite Borneo Villas is working with the World Wildlife Fund and other private sector partners, and holds a key seat on the Maliangin Sanctuary Island Committee, helping to support cutting-edge marine research and policy reform and promote best management and protection practices as part of the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries and Food Security (CTI-CFF). The committee is actively involved in establishing a range of initiatives to stop potential overfishing and create ‘no take’ fish zones, and works with the local rural communities to educate them on the importance of protecting their natural underwater habitat.

Opening in Sabah in November 2009, The Kudat Riviera is a unique mixed-use development offering unparalleled seclusion and the ultimate in eco-friendly luxury, in stunning natural surroundings. Along six kilometres of breathtaking virgin shorelines, hilltops and clifftops, paparazzi-proofed two- to six-bedroom villas nestle in their own private estates of up to eight acres each, including spectacular private infinity pool and manicured gardens.  The Kudat Riviera will be the ultimate exclusive resort for discerning travellers with an appreciation of the wonders of the natural world: With unrivalled marine and terrestrial biodiversity, the region offers extraordinary wildlife and rainforest experiences, and some of the most celebrated diving in the world.
