Kovalam to receive facelift
Time has come when those sitting at the apex of Kerala tourism have realized the value of Kovalam beaches. As we know that they lost much of their charm in the recent past in wake of poor management, the management is not keen to make them look gorgeous once again. As the money matters in this sort of case, Rs.25 crore has been set aside for the proposed facelift.
Kumar, one of the key persons involved in the policy making said, “If a destination has to get the desired attention and for sustainable development, the first thing that should happen is that the living condition of those living in and around the destination should improve.”
In the wake, Oommen Chandy government is prepared to kick-start the development project that is looking to get Rs.10 crore drinking water schemes involved. As we know that the primary reason hitherto was that the beaches were not clean, hence current efforts will lead to clean the untidy beaches and much attention will be given to upkeep the surrounding areas. In fact, it is also going to benefit those who are living in and around the destination and suffering from serious drinking water shortage and sanitation problem.
In the wake of Kovalam beach is set to become one of the cleanest beach destination in the world. As the makeover of Kovalam is undertaken, the tourism department is set to focus on other destinations as well.
