InterContinental Hotels Group unveils plans for Kimpton Taipei

InterContinental Hotels Group has announced the signing of the Kimpton Taipei, alongside Malaysia’s Cornerstone Partners Group.

Scheduled to open next year, this will be the first Kimpton hotel in Taiwan.

Nestled in central Taipei, the 14-story property features 129 guest rooms and suites, and a 12th floor rooftop deck.

The design will reflect the hustle and bustle of the city, with a seamless integration of urban features and soft greenery.

In addition, the hotel’s restaurants and bars will be designed exclusively by Hong Kong-based JIA Group, whose flagship outlets include the Hong Kong and Macao Michelin-starred Duddell’s, 22 Ships and Aberdeen Street Social restaurants.

Kent Sun, chief development officer, IHG Greater China, said: “IHG has a growing distribution in Taiwan, where we see a rapidly growing demand for boutique hotels.

“We already have one of the world’s leading lifestyle portfolios and look forward to delivering a sophisticated and glamourous hotel that will become iconic in Taiwan and a landmark property for IHG globally.”

The Kimpton Taipei is the latest signing for the brand in Asia, and follows recent signings in highly sought-after locations in Shanghai, Sanya and Bali, as IHG continues to take the brand global.

IHG has signed a Kimpton hotel for Paris and earlier this year opened the Kimpton De Witt in Amsterdam, the first Kimpton property outside of the Americas.

Acquired by IHG in January 2015, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, is renowned for its innovative and playful design and personal approach to guest service, using thoughtful perks and amenities, bound together with a sense of delight and discovery.

Jason Chong, chief executive, Cornerstone Partners Group, added: “Taiwan reflects the holistic integration of cultural diversity, with continuous growth in recent years that has attracted significant foreign capital to return to the Taiwanese market.

“This cooperation between Cornerstone Partners Group and IHG to introduce Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants will put Taiwan in the spotlight again.

“We are very confident in the market and look forward to expanding our footprint in the region.”
