Hilton Strengthens Asia Pacific Development Leadership with Key Executive Appointments in Asia

Hilton has announced the appointments of Nong Xia as president of Development for Greater China & Mongolia and Maria Ariizumi as vice president of Development for South East Asia. These appointments mark a significant step in Hilton’s ongoing commitment to expand its footprint and strengthen its presence in key growth regions.

Nong Xia will lead Hilton’s ambitious development strategy in Greater China, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his tenure with H World Group, Starwood, Hyatt, and Groupe Pierre Vacances et Center Parcs. A Chinese native, Nong will leverage his deep industry and market expertise to drive Hilton’s expansion in Greater China, where the company’s network already boasts over 640 trading properties and an industry-leading pipeline of nearly 800 properties.

Maria Ariizumi brings deep knowledge from her time with Swire Hotels, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Marriott International, and Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting, and positions her to spearhead Hilton’s ambitious growth in South East Asia. This newly-created role underscores the region’s growing importance and Hilton’s aim to double its portfolio here in the next three years.

“Following a record-breaking year at the close of 2023, the appointments of Nong and Maria are pivotal in propelling Hilton’s growth strategy and leadership position in the key regions of Greater China and South East Asia,” said Clarence Tan, senior vice president, Development, Asia Pacific, Hilton. “Their proven track records and rich market knowledge are invaluable as Hilton continues to innovate and meet the evolving needs of our owners and guests. I look forward to working with Nong and Maria to take Hilton’s presence across Asia Pacific to new heights.”

Today, Hilton remains the fastest growing hospitality company in Asia Pacific, having surpassed 760 trading hotels, and recorded its largest-ever pipeline of 861 properties. To fuel this growth, Hilton continues to build on its award-winning culture and is proud to be named the #1 World’s Best Workplace by Fortune and Great Place to Work – a first for a hospitality company.
