Glasgow Visual Art festival to return in 2012

Organisers of the Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art have announced the next edition of the festival will take place across the city from April 20th to May 7th, 2012.

Held over 18 event-packed days, the festival will present a brilliant collection of contemporary art in an array of spaces and locations, including key venues such as the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) and Tramway, through to artist-run collectives and newly discovered spaces in the city.

The Festival programme is conceived and created in collaboration with the visual arts sector inGlasgow, with GI 2012 set to draw on the successes of its last outing in 2010.

In addition, next year’s festival will also support new projects from over 20 Glasgow-based arts organisations and artist groups, alongside a programme of local and international artists’ commissions, which has been curated by the Festival’s Director, Katrina Brown.

The festival is funded by Glasgow City Council, Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, Glasgow Life, Creative Scotland, EventScotland and Scottish Enterprise.

Details of the programme and venues involved in GI 2012 will be announced in September 2011.

The festival will also shortly be launching a membership scheme through which supporters can gain access to a range of benefits, including priority booking for all ticketed festival events, invitations to events and parties, and an exclusive artist designed membership card.
