European Waterways Enhances 2025 Cruise Itineraries With New & Returning Excursions
European Waterways, the British luxury hotel barge cruising specialist, has announced a selection of new and returning excursions for the 2025 season, offering guests even more immersive and locally inspired experiences across its European itineraries.
Dalwhinnie Distillery Returns to the Scottish Highlands
Back by popular demand, the Dalwhinnie Whisky Distillery returns to the cruise programme in the Scottish Highlands. Guests travelling aboard the 12-passenger Spirit of Scotland and the 8-passenger Scottish Highlander which cruise the Caledonian Canal and the famed Loch Ness, will enjoy a guided tour and tasting at one of the most iconic whisky distilleries in the region.
Perched at an altitude of 1,154 feet, Dalwhinnie is one of the highest working distilleries in Scotland. Today, the distillery sits at the edge of the Cairngorms National Park, surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery and heather-covered moorlands that remain largely unchanged since Victorian times. The distillery experience offers guests a fascinating insight into traditional Highland whisky-making methods, culminating in a curated tasting that pairs single malts with hand-crafted chocolates for a truly indulgent finish.

Meanwhile on the Canal de Bourgogne and the Canal du Centre in Southern Burgundy, the 8-passenger Finesse barge introduces an all-new excursion on its cruise itinerary: a visit to the Jean Baptiste Jessiaume vineyard in Santenay. This sixth-generation family-run estate offers an exclusive insight into the family’s winemaking heritage using traditional techniques with innovative, forward-thinking practices. Guests will be treated to a cellar tour and curated wine tasting in one of Côte de Beaune’s most celebrated villages.
“These experiences reflect our ongoing commitment to curating unique, off-the-beaten-track excursions that bring our guests closer to the people, flavours and traditions of each cruising region,” Derek Banks, Founder and Managing Director at European Waterways.
