Emaar seeks Indian expansion

Emaar Hospitality Group has confirmed it is assessing potential partners as it seeks to bring its ‘The Address’ brand to India for the first time.

The Dubai-based property group plans to bring the five-star chain to Indian capital Delhi within the next two years.

In an interview with Indian magazine Business Standard Marc Francois-Dardenne, chief executive officer, Emaar Hospitality, said: “We are at discussion stage with some companies.

“The first hotel has to really represent the brand. It has to be at a great location, that is why it is called ‘The Address,” Dardenne added.

At present there are five ‘The Address’ hotels in Dubai and the company is planning to open three more in France, Bali and Morocco.

The development comes at a positive time for Emaar Properties, with chairman Mohamed Alabbar declaring a ten per cent cash dividend at the 13th Annual General Meeting held in Dubai on Monday, March 28th, 2011.

Emaar sought to “be further recognised as the developer of world icons supported by superior performing subsidiaries and country operations that operate as stand-alone profit centres,” he added.
