Easter rush advice from Carrentals.co.uk

Easter rush advice from Carrentals.co.uk

With Easter and the Royal Wedding resulting in four bank holidays in just 11 days, independent car hire comparator Carrentals.co.uk is advising travellers to book as soon as possible to minimise the impact of rising prices.

The company has seen prices in popular Easter locations such as Malaga, Geneva and Alicante, rise steadily over the last 12 weeks, as a growing number of people take advantage of the extra holiday for an extended break.

For example, prices for seven days economy car rental from Faro Airport have risen by over 90% with some suppliers over the last three weeks, while a seven day rental in Geneva has risen by up to 60%.

Gareth Robinson, Managing Director of Carrentals.co.uk, says: “As the Royal Wedding gets closer more people are recognising that they can get an 11 day break by only taking three days off work.  The result has been rising demand for car hire both overseas and in the UK, as workers look to make the most of the bank holidays, which in turn has pushed prices up.

“Our advice is that if you know you’re going away and need a rental car, don’t leave it until the last minute.  At best the price may be significantly higher, but at worst you may find availability of the right size car very limited.”
