East Midlands Trains welcome Olympic torch procession

As the country welcomes the Olympic Flame on its relay route across the UK, East Midlands Trains is advising people to check for details of how the 70-day relay may affect their normal journey to/from the station.

An easy guide is available at eastmidlandstrains.co.uk, detailing which parts of the route the Olympic Flame will cover and on which dates. There is a colour-coded key providing information about which stations will be directly affected.

Marc Turley, Head of Commercial for East Midlands Trains, said: “Along with the rest of the UK, we’re very excited about the Olympic Torch procession and we’re pleased that it will be visiting so many towns and cities on our network. We hope our passengers will use the opportunity to celebrate the start of the 2012 Games.

“However, on some occasions, there may be times when our stations cannot be accessed as easily as normal and we would urge people to check the procession schedule to see whether they need to allow extra time for the journey to the station.”

East Midlands Trains is also using the opportunity to urge people holding 2012 Games event tickets to book their rail travel now at www.nationalrailgamestravel.com during the Games, East Midlands Trains will be providing more late night trains and additional capacity on a number of services.
