DB Schenker Rail and HHLA are restructuring their affiliated companies

Deutsche Bahn and Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) have reached an agreement on the restructuring of their affiliated companies in seaport hinterland transport. Accordingly, DB Schenker Rail will assume management control of TFG Transfracht Internationale Gesellschaft für kombinierten Güterverkehr mbH & Co. KG. In return, HHLA will receive DB’s shares in the companies Polzug Intermodal GmbH and Metrans a.s., Prague. The Supervisory Board of HHLA adopted the resolution today. At DB, the resolution is currently passing through the committees responsible. Restructuring will also require approval by antitrust authorities.

Alexander Hedderich, CEO of DB Schenker Rail, says: “The full takeover of TFG will permit direct corporate control and guidance by DB Schenker Rail. Transfracht is our most important operator in European seaport hinterland transport. We recognize great potential to improve performance and market positioning of Transfracht for the benefit of our customers. In doing so Transfracht will be more closely interlinked and connected with DB Schenker Rail’s European network.”

DB and HHLA want to begin restructuring as soon a possible. The conceptual cooperation between DB Schenker and HHLA for strengthening the Port of Hamburg and seaport hinterland traffic will continue.
