Confidence returning to ski industry as skiers find ways to save up to 35% on their holidays

Confidence is returning to the ski industry with 80 per cent of skiers who did not ski last year planning to return to the slopes this season. Skiers are becoming savvier in finding ways to cut costs to stay on the slopes, with 40 per cent of holidaymakers looking to book late, a third choosing to build their own skiing holidays using low cost flights, and 75 per cent of independent skiers investigating car hire as a cheaper alternative to often expensive transfers.

The launch of SkiingHolidays.com, the first website of its kind in the travel sector, is reinventing the ski market and is the only site to offer ‘build your own’ skiing holidays using low cost carriers, transfers or car hire with ski accommodation. Results have found skiing holidays up to 35 per cent cheaper than their pre-packaged equivalents.

SkiingHolidays.com offers British skiers the ability to dynamically build their own skiing holiday and compares the results to traditional packaged holidays, all in one easy step. The results of both are displayed alongside each other on the site, providing greater holiday flexibility and price transparency.

As well as being the only company with this innovative comparison and booking capability, it is also the only ski site to provide ATOL financial protection on skiing holidays built using low cost flights.

The survey also revealed that 22 per cent of British skiers are planning to spend less on their holiday this season, while 14 per cent plan to spend more.

Tim Anderson, director of SkiingHolidays.com, says: “After an estimated 20 per cent fall in the number of skiers hitting the slopes last season we are forecasting a positive, though cautious, return to the coming season.

“SkiingHolidays.com is well positioned to take advantage of this calculated approach of skiers to building their ski holidays. We access traditional tour operators, low cost flights, commercial and charter carriers, car hire, private transfers and accommodation in one easy step without users realising it’s even being done. The beauty of it is that it gives consumers the cheapest prices available and offers no bias toward a particular operator or method of constructing your holiday. If a pre-packaged holiday is cheaper you’ll see it, if it’s more expensive then you’ll see that too.”
