Centara website named most popular in Thailand for second year running

Centara Hotels & Resorts has for the second year in succession won an award for the most popular hotel website in Thailand.

The Thai hotel and resort management company has been presented with the “Most Visited Hotel Site in Thailand” award under the 7th Truehits Web Awards 2009.

Centara had previously collected the Truehits award in the presentations for 2008.

The award was presented at a ceremony held by the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) at the Emerald Hotel in Bangkok.

“On-line promotions and reservations are increasingly of importance to Centara, particularly with the company’s fast growth strategy in Thailand and overseas, and our website is operated as an integral part of our sales and marketing,” said Chris Bailey, Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing.

“We are delighted to win this award, which we feel reveals the effectiveness of our website policies.”

Visits to Thai websites are monitored and analysed by, the leading web statistic organisation in Thailand, run by Internet Innovation Research Centre Co Ltd, which is supported and budgeted by the Thai government.

Centara Hotels & Resorts achieved the highest number of unique visitors amongst hotel members under the Truehits programme, emerging as number one in the hotels and resorts category.

Mr Bailey attributed much of the success of the website to the traffic generated by news of attractive rates and promotions on the group’s range of hotels and resorts throughout Thailand.

The 7th Truehits Web Awards 2009 were presented to the top 10 most visited websites in Thailand, and to the top sites within specific categories, including hotels and resorts.

Centara Hotels and Resorts currently operates a chain of 26 hotels and resorts throughout Thailand, with the properties being either self-owned or managed under contract, and a further 10 are at present under development. In addition five resorts have been added in international destinations, totalling 41 properties.
