Centara opens Centra value brand at Government Complex in Chaeng Watthana

Centara Hotels & Resorts has announced that Centra Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre Chaeng Watthana will open in the 3rd quarter of 2012.

The hotel is owned by Dhanarak Asset Development Co Ltd. (DAD) and will be operated by Centara under a management contract.

The new hotel is part of the Government Complex at Chaeng Watthana Road, Bangkok, and has been designed in contemporary Thai style to reflect national identity. The hotel is intended for guests who have business with the government offices in the complex, and also for general business and leisure travelers.

This is the first property in Bangkok to be operated under the Centra brand, Centara’s value concept in which hotels and resorts offer Centara quality service but without the extra facilities that may be above guests’ needs and expectations.
Centra Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre Chaeng Watthana is located in a prime location, a 10-minute drive from Don Muang Airport and 45-minute drive via expressway from Suvarnabhumi Airport. The 204-room hotel is located in a 10-story building and features 192 superior rooms and 12 junior suites. There is one restaurant serving international and Thai favorites, and a coffee corner with Wi-Fi access at the hotel lobby ground floor.

The design of the convention center is based on two buildings. The “Circle” is located on the water garden and features an auditorium and spacious reception area with a glass wall giving a panoramic view. The “Square” is a five-story building, which is a three-minute walk from the hotel and is connected by an air-conditioned walkway. Its total area is 27,293 m2, and features 24 function rooms with a flexibility to host from 10 to 2,000 guests. The meeting room sizes vary from 212 to 1,850 m2. The Vayupak Room features a 9.30-meter ceiling height, while other function rooms feature 4.5–6-meter ceiling heights. All meeting rooms are equipped with high-tech audio and visual system. Moreover, the Ratthaprasasahabhakti building, where the government offices are located, features another 17 function rooms.

The Centra brand, as the contraction of the Centara name indicates, offers affordable hotels and resorts that provide a quality experience designed to exceed expectations but not over-deliver to the point not required by guests. Centra properties, therefore, offer spacious accommodation with quality furnishing and fittings.

“We are delighted to have been selected by DAD to manage this very fine property under the Centra brand,” said Suthikiati Chirathivat, Chairman of the Executive Board, Central Plaza Hotel Public Company Limited.

“This, we believe, shows great confidence in the Centra concept, and gives us an exceptionally high-profile for this new brand. This is a very significant development for us,” he added.
