Butlins’ Ocean Hotel now open

Butlins’ Ocean Hotel now open

Yesterday saw the grand opening of The Ocean Hotel – Butlins’ new £20 million family hotel at Bognor Regis and the brand’s first spa hotel.

The property features the unique Ocean Spa which offers classic experiences as well as quirky treatments that have been created especially for Butlins.

The Spa Experience is totally unique…  The disco shower is an implosion of mirrored mosaics, flashing lights and 70s disco sound bites.  The snow cave is the most unexpected space to cool down after using the sauna or steam room and really does have the best ‘snowman making’ snow along with stunning stalactites. The glowing hydrospa is framed with a wall of water cascading down from the ceiling.

Quirky treatments exclusive to Butlins include Beauty and the Beach; Premier League Male Massage for Men; Touch of Gold Magnificent Mineral Facial; Marshmallow Medley Facial for Teens and Beautiful Beginnings featuring the Butlins ‘tummypod’ – a special soft belt commissioned by Butlins that plays classical music to the unborn baby, believed to aid development.

There are 10 treatment rooms, each of which offers a virtual cosmos of stars and clouds which are projected around the room.

The spa also provides a mix of loungers, chairs and relaxation pods, a Spa Lounge and external sun terrace that surrounds a hot tub.

The Spa offers a total of 70 treatments from facials and manicures to more intensive body treatments which range from £20 to over £100.

The design led hotel Ocean also features 200 contemporary rooms with funky colour change lighting, rainfall showers and 75% of rooms will benefit from private balconies overlooking the sea and the South Downs.  The hotel boasts disco lifts, an interactive fish projection reception floor, landscaped gardens and a family friendly restaurant and bar.

The hotel rooms available are 2 berth, 4 berth and extended 5 berths plus 10 accessible rooms. All rooms include widescreen TV and DVD player, hairdryer, safe and tea and coffee making facilities.

All family rooms feature a separate children’s den boasting full size beds. Kids’ beds even come with specially designed blue glow lighting – which means Butlins can offer the world’s first ‘no-monsters-under-the-bed guarantee’.

Other facilities include all-day check-ins, room service and full access to all the fun Butlins entertainment on Resort.

The Ocean Hotel follows the success of Butlins Shoreline Hotel, which opened at the resort in 2005. The Ocean Hotel is the latest addition to Butlins’ property portfolio following an investment of over £150 million across all three Resorts in the past five years.

From 2003 to the end of 2009, £53 million has been allocated to accommodation, including the Ocean Hotel, and £43 million on facilities, of which £28 million is being invested in 2009 alone.

Three night ‘Summer School’s Out’ breaks start from just £480 for two adults and two children sharing a Mariner 4 berth room with South Downs views from 21 August 2009.
