Andrew J. Economon is the newly appointed Area Director for Greece and Cyprus for Sol Melia. Most recently, Economon worked for Grecotel in Greece, and has worked with Westin Hotels and Resorts, and Omni Hotels in the United States.

Economon enters Sol Melia in the Greek and Cypriot markets which are key areas for development and growth of the three Sol Melia brands. New and existing projects are currently being considered in Athens, Crete, Rhodes, Chalkidiki, Paphos, Agia Napa, Limassol and Larnaka.

The new Area Director has an extensive operations background including years working as an Executive Chef. His educational background includes degrees from the Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston, and the Culinary Institute of America

The appointment of Andrew Economon is part of wider Sol Meliá strategy of increasing the company’s presence in the Mediterranean region, in which the company currently operates 40 hotels in Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Greece, Turkey and Croatia. Sol Meliá has 250 hotels in 25 countries.
