Elegant Hotels, one of the Caribbean`s leading hotel groups has appointed Marcello Pigozzo as its new Chief Executive Officer. A seasoned hotelier with a strong vision, Pigozzo`s primary objective will be to guide Elegant Hotels growth in the future. Currently the portfolio consists of six individually styled properties with a goal to increase this number to 30 within five years.

A 30-year veteran of the global hotel industry, Pigozzo was most recently Managing Director of the European Resorts and the Mediterranean, Middle East and Africa division for the world`s largest resort company, Hoteles Sol Melia. In this role he was responsible for driving resort and urban expansion throughout Europe, the Mediterranean, Middle East and Africa, and oversaw operations for all the Mediterranean properties.

Prior to joining Hoteles Sol Melia, Pigozzo worked for Inter-Continental Hotels, the world`s most global hotel company, for more than 20 years. He numerous positions with the company including Vice President of the company`s Latin America, Mexico and Caribbean division and President of the Asia-Pacific division.

An Italian native, Pigozzo is a graduate in Hotel and Tourism Administration from the Glion International Centre in Switzerland and attended Columbia University`s Management and Administration programme in New York. He has received numerous awards for his success in the tourism and hotel industries from such diverse sources as the City of Miami Beach and the Venezuelan and Italian Governments.

He is married with two children and is a fluent in English, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.

The portfolio features five distinctive, individually styled hotels in Barbados (Colony Club, Tamarind Cove, Coconut Creek, Crystal Cove, and Turtle Beach Resort), each with idyllic beachfront positions, full range of water sports and fine dining.
