Marriot Opens It`s First Courtyard Hotel In Costa Rica

Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) has opened its newest Courtyard hotel in San Jose, Costa Rica. This is the first Courtyard hotel in Costa Rica and the brand’s third property in Latin America, joining Argentina and Mexico.

The 125-room San Jose Courtyard by Marriott is owned and managed by Caribe Hospitality de Costa Rica, S.A. Diana de Rojas is the general manager. The hotel brand is aimed at business and leisure travelers who need consistent, high-quality accommodations and services at affordable prices. Special opening rates start at (US)$89 for a standard room until February 28, 2002.

Located in the Escazu section of the city, the hotel is situated within one mile from the MultiPlaza, the city’s largest shopping mall, a PriceSmart supermarket, a Promerica retail bank and an Outback Steakhouse. San Jose’s newest corporate centers, Plaza Roble and the Forum are also nearby.
For dining and entertainment, the San Jose Courtyard by Marriott offers a breakfast lounge and limited lunch and dinner service. The lobby features a bar and business section. Recreational amenities include an exercise room; an outdoor swimming pool and a retail shop called the Pantry.
Other guest services include in-room coffee, an in-room safe, a mini-refrigerator, guest laundry, an airport shuttle and surface car parking.
For social events and small conferences, the hotel has a 700-square foot meeting room that opens to a small terrace and the pool.
There are currently 565 Courtyard hotels around the world. In addition to locations in the United States, future Courtyard hotels are scheduled to open this year in Shanghai, Tblisi, Amsterdam and Roissy Park, France.

Marriott International is currently represented in Costa Rica by two full-service hotels: the 248-room Costa Rica Marriott in San Jose and the 200-room Los Suenos Marriott Ocean & Golf Resort.
