LanChile Unveils New Wine List

MIAMI—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Nov. 18, 2003—LanChile is continuously improving the overall travel experience for its passengers by providing excellent service in order to be recognized as one of the top 10 airlines in the world. As one of the fundamentals for LanChile, the airline`s wine and catering have been elements that continue to differentiate LanChile to be distinguished at an international level. In continuing these efforts, LanChile this week unveiled its new wine list for first and business class.
The new menus were unveiled during the “Music and Wine” event, which was held at the Club Balthus in Santiago and included a special appearance by the outstanding Spanish singer Ana Torroja.
Hector Vergara, Latin America`s only master sommelier, updates LanChile`s wine list every four months. Featuring both traditional and emerging wineries, the menu highlights a special selection of the best and most notable Chilean wines. In order to present the wines properly, Vergara continuously trains LanChile`s crews so that they can make recommendations and answer questions about the type and characteristics of each individual wine.
“We want to provide our passengers with the best travel experience,” said Pablo Montesinos, LanChile`s Vice President North/South America and Asia. “We do this by focusing on every detail in order to provide the excellent service that distinguishes us as one of the world`s best airlines. Nothing has been left to chance with LanChile`s new wine list. As always, it features a selection of the best national grapes.”
Nearly 500 guests attended the “Music and Wine” event, which featured a tasting of the following wines: Sena 1999 (Vina Sena), Neblus 2000 (Vina Casablanca), Max Reserva Syrah (Vina Errazuriz), Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2000 (Vina Valdivieso), La Joya Gran Reserva Merlot 1999 (Vina Bisquert), Private Reserve Carmenere 1999 (Vina Canepa), Single Vineyard Chardonnay 1999 (Vina MontGras) and Santa Isabel Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2002 (Vina Casablanca). There was also an auction to benefit Teleton conducted by Christie`s international representative Denise Ratinoff during which participants bid using kilometers earned in their LanPass frequent flyer accounts.
The LanPass “Music and Wine” event - now in its second consecutive year - has become known for inviting famous national and international artists to appear, including Claudia Acuna (May 2002), Susan Baca (October 2002), Luz Casel (June 2003), and this time Ana Torroja, who appeared with the original band for about 40 minutes performing songs from her latest album - Fragil.
