bmibaby Grows Midlands Market

bmibaby is a soaraway success at East Midlands Airport with November passenger carryings up 60% on the previous November, on those routes operated from the airport by bmi.

The ten destinations that were previously operated by bmi, that bmibaby has been serving since 27 October are Amsterdam, Belfast (International), Brussels, Dublin, Edinburgh, Faro, Glasgow, Jersey, Malaga and Paris (Charles de Gaulle), which have historically all been strong routes for bmi from East Midlands Airport.

Passenger carryings on all routes increased in November with a cumulative increase of 60%.

Tony Davis, managing director of bmibaby said: “bmi was very successful on all ten additional routes that bmibaby is now operating on so for us to grow the market further with the introduction of low cost travel is fantastic. The figures prove that there is great demand in the Midlands and beyond for low cost airlines, we are pleased to have met demand and hope to grow the market further with introduction of more services and an extension to existing services this week.”

On Friday the airline will announce and put on sale its summer international timetable, which will see the introduction of new services and the extension to existing services from both East Midlands and Cardiff.
