ATLANTA, Sept. 6, 2002 - Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL), the U.S. airline with the most transatlantic destinations, and Europcar, the premier European car rental company, today announced a new marketing partnership.
SkyMiles members now can earn frequent flyer miles when renting cars at any of Europcar’s 2,600 international locations. As an introductory offer, SkyMiles members will earn 100 miles for each rental day effective Sept. 1 through Nov. 30, 2002. After this introductory period, members will earn 60 miles per rental day. Europcar, which operates in more European airports, hotels and railways than any other car rental company, offers a wide range of options to SkyMiles members traveling abroad.
“We look forward to serving SkyMiles members and are confident they will enjoy our extensive car rental offerings, customer-friendly service and local knowledge of cities all over the world,” said Henning Luessmann, vice president of sales and marketing for Europcar North America. “Europcar is focused on building our presence in the U.S. market, and this partnership with Delta Air Lines provides a tremendous opportunity to introduce ourselves to their frequent international business travelers.”
Added Christine Pierce, Delta’s director of partnership marketing, “Europcar is a great fit for our members because it operates in many of Delta’s and the SkyTeam alliances’ international destinations throughout Europe, the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, the Middle East and Asia. This partnership is especially valuable for our members traveling to Europe as Delta is the top U.S. airline across the Atlantic, and Europcar operates more European locations than any other car rental firm.”
SkyMiles members can earn miles with Europcar by making reservations via Europcar’s toll-free number at 877-940-6900. Or, to book online, members can visit Europcar North America’s Web site at EuropcarAmericas.com. All rentals are eligible with the exception of free, staff and travel industry discounted rates. Tour operator rates do not provide miles. The car must be rented in the member’s name to earn mileage credit. Customers simply need to present their Delta SkyMiles members’ card at time of rental. All standard SkyMiles program rules and conditions apply.
