Levertov takes oneworld IT role

oneworld has appointed a new Vice-President IT and Cost Reduction.Moshe Levertov will join its central alliance team on 23 June.  Reporting to oneworld Managing Partner John McCulloch, he will lead the alliance’s IT activities along with its cost reduction projects.

He succeeds Bob McNair, who is retiring from oneworld after eight years.

Moshe boards oneworld from leading airline industry IT supplier SITA, where he served since 2005 as its Vice-President Airport Hubs, leading one of the group’s key strategic programmes.  He had previously sat as a SITA Board Member for two years.

He joined SITA from El Al, where he had been Chief Information Officer for 12 years.  He was recruited into the airline originally in 1974 as an operations officer, working in its Operations Centre, before developing his career with the carrier as an industrial and management engineer and heading the airline’s Organisation and Methods department.

Married with two children, he will move to the Vancouver home of the oneworld Management Company to take up his new appointment.

Bob McNair was one of the very first recruits to be employed by oneworld when it set up its central alliance management team in 2000, joining from Qantas where he had been General Manager e-Commerce.

Since then, oneworld has become the first - by three years - of the global alliances to enable passengers to connect between flights operated by any combination of its member airlines using electronic tickets only, with interline e-ticketing links between all partners, and is set to become the first to sell round-the-world, or any alliance fares, on-line.

Also during this time measurable benefits from oneworld’s Cost Reduction activities have exceeded US$300 million.

oneworld Managing Partner John McCulloch said:  “Bob McNair has made a tremendous contribution in establishing oneworld as the leading quality global airline alliance.  We wish him a long, happy and well deserved retirement.  He’ll be a hard act to follow, but in Moshe Levertov we have someone with the ideal experience, skills and character to build further on Bob’s achievements.”
